This Harinama Preaching department was started by Srimati Mataji several years ago. When Srimati Mataji relocated to Vrindaban in 2001, the responsibility was given to Govindananda Das.

The goal of this department is to make every visitor of Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir chant the holy names of Krishna as instructed by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The devotees from this department help visitors chant the holy names on the beads and also write the holy names.

The following projects are conducted under this department:

Harinama Parikrama in the Lotus park around imprints of Lord Chaitanya

Here the visitors go around the installed imprints of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s lotus feet and chant the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.

Writing of the holy names

The visitors are provided with pens and papers to write the Hare Krishna maha-mantra 108 times or even more.

Srila Prabhupada Project

The visitors are made to chant the holy names in Srila Prabhupada’s Samadhi and are given maha-prasada. Also here Srila Prabhupada’s books are distributed.

Japa Tutorial Project

The visitors are taught how to chant the holy names on japa beads and are examined so that they chant properly. The japa beads are also sold to them. Visitors who chant or write the maha-mantra are gifted photographs of Sri Sri Radha Madhava.

Future plans

The department wants to have a stock of Deity photographs so that they can distribute to the visitors. They are very determined to engage each and everyone who visit Mayapur to hear, chant and write the holy names of the Lord—Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare—as Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu wanted.
